How do I care for my handmade furniture?

With each piece made by hand, subtle imperfections and variations are part of the beauty of these products and guarantee the authenticity of hand craftsmanship.

Leather 

General Care - Clean your leather pieces regularly with a dry microfiber cloth or soft-bristled vacuum attachment. If there is any residue buildup, we recommend gently wiping the surface with a cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. In dry climates, a high-grade specialty leather conditioner can be applied 1-2 times per year to keep the leather supple. We recommend you test any conditioner you purchase in an inconspicuous part of the furniture before applying to ensure there is no discoloration. Our customers have had positive feedback for the following brands available on Amazon:

  • Chamberlain's Leather Milk
  • Otter Wax

Spills, Spots and Stains - Leather is very sensitive to spills, especially liquids, so they should be removed from the surface as soon as possible to keep them from soaking in and forming a hard-to-remove stain. For spills and stains on our natural and whiskey color-ways, blot the substance as quickly as possible with a clean, dry white cloth to absorb it. When cleaning spills on the black color way, a white cloth dampened with distilled water can be used. Keep in mind that leather stains tend to lighten overtime, so sometimes it’s best to wait before applying a chemical cleaner or conditioner.

Teak

General Care - Our teak products are finished with a wax product to give the furniture an unfinished, but velvety hand. While wax products generally don’t protect the wood as well as other finishes, it’s definitely the best finish for bringing out the true color and texture of the wood. Given it’s vulnerabilities, we recommend treating the teak with a furniture wax or beeswax 3-4 times a year or as needed. Apply the wax using a clean cloth, always working with the grain of the wood. The wax will have a dull finish upon application. Allow the wax to dry (10 minutes), then buff it off with a dry white cloth. You’ll be left with a lovely sheen finish. 

Spills, Spots and Stains - The same wax product can be used to clean up any water damage, food stains, or discolorations due to sunlight. Simply apply the wax with steel wool (0000 grade works the best), using a light pressure to work out the stained areas. Make sure to work the wax in along the grain of the wood rather than in a circular motion. Once the wax is dry, you can buff it off with a dry white cloth. 

Rattan

General Care - It is best to keep rattan out of direct sunlight. Do not use chemical-based products to clean or polish; instead these pieces are best cleaned with a warm, damp cloth and a spray of vinegar or wiped lightly with eucalyptus oil. High-grade beeswax can be used on rattan to help it from drying out, and to help maintain the overall longevity and quality of the product.

How do I exchange/return my furniture?

ALL SALES ARE FINAL AT TIME OF PLACING ORDER ONLINE.

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. Please note that all of our products are made by hand, and thus, subtle imperfections and variations in materials and finishes are standard and expected to be found.

We personally inspect all items prior to shipment, and all items are sent in satisfactory condition. We insure each package, and therefore have the ability to offer you a full refund or replacement of your items if damage occurs en route. However, in order to qualify for a full refund/replacement there are two important steps that you must take:

  • All damaged claims must be reported in writing via email to hello@hatihome.com within 24 hours of the item being delivered.
  • Include photos of both the damage to the box and the product(s). These are necessary for us to make a claim with our insurance partner. 

Failure to complete either of these requirements will void the refund/replacement commitment. 

Do you carry stock of your products, and/or how do I pre-order furniture?

We carry limited quantities of each item, with new shipments of furniture arriving four times a year.

Much of our furniture is made-to-order, and we offer pre-orders for all items listed on our website, particularly if you are looking for larger quantities or customized features such as a custom leather color or customized chair sizes.

To place a custom or pre-order, all orders will be processed through our website with full payment taken at the time of checkout. Kindly note, once an order has been placed, we are unable to extend refunds under any circumstances. All such orders are placed with the knowledge that delivery dates can change and delays to orders are not grounds for refunds unless in exceptional circumstances.

By pre-ordering your products, you are guaranteed to receive your ordered item/s. Additional items not pre-ordered are not guaranteed to be available as our pieces are very limited in production. Because of this, we do not take cancellations on pre-orders, or offer refunds.

 

Once my item is in stock, how quickly will it ship?

All stocked furniture items are shipped within (5) five business days of placing your order and payment processed online.
